From an Opera Concert to Craft Beer Tasting – Discover Vienna

Experience panoramic views from a rotating tower, enjoy a coffee at the most iconic spot of famous opera musicians and dive into history like never before in a Royal E-Car. Are just a few of the unique experiences that only Vienna can offer.

Vienna, home of the great figures like Beethoven, Freud and Mozart. The capital of Austria, located in Eastern Europe on the banks of the Danube River, stands out not only for its historic architecture but also for its rich intellectual and artistic legacy.

We stayed at the H+ Hotel Wien, a 4-star hotel, close the Liechtenstein Palace Garden. Offering a superb comfort rooms, great breakfast, helpful staffs and an excellent location, within a 30-minute walk to the city center, being also close to the metro and train stations.

We recommend starting your travel itinerary by heading to the city center to immerse yourself in Austrian history with the Royal E-Car Tour. Whether in private tours or groups of up to 7, these classic cars inspired by the 1920s will take you, along with your driver-guide, to the most important and charming spots in the old town. In just 1 to 1.5 hours, you’ll be captivated by museums, monuments, parks, parliaments, prestigious neighborhoods, cathedrals, schools, universities and cafes, all presented in a charismatic, fun, and culturally rich way. This tour beautifully blends the timeless and classic beauty of Vienna, making it an absolute must-see for any visitor.

While you’re in the central area, why not stop for a meal at Cafe Mozart? One of Vienna’s most traditional cafes, it was founded in 1794, just three years after Mozart’s death. Originally known as Katzmay until its demolition in 1882, it was rebuilt in 1929 and renamed in honor of the great composer. With an elegant ambiance, the cafe serves delicious daily pastries and cakes, as well as breakfast and lunch during the week, featuring traditional local dishes. We highly recommend the Austrian Goulash, a beef stew with onions and rich spices, originally a “cowboy’s meal” for Hungarian herdsmen.

For a bird’s-eye view of Vienna, visit the Donauturm (Danube Tower), constructed in 1964, and ranked as the 65th tallest tower in the world, standing at 252 meters. The tower offers a stunning panoramic view of the entire city and an unforgettable sunset from its glass-enclosed interior and outdoor terrace. Don’t miss a visit to the Turm Cafe, but note that entry to the tower doesn’t guarantee seating, so a reservation is advisable if you wish to enjoy a cocktail during the golden hour or dine for lunch or dinner.

The Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens, also known as Austria’s Versailles, is undoubtedly one of Austria’s most impressive, historic and cultural monuments. A guided tour will transport you back in time, immersing you in the world of Empress Maria Theresa. The small and grand galleries preserve royal decorations and painted ceilings, while the meticulously maintained gardens are sure to enchant you, especially during the blooming season. Besides the standard tickets granting access to the palace and gardens, there are other packages available, including carriage rides, lunch, wine tastings and even concerts and performances.

To ensure you don’t miss any monuments in this incredible historic city, a great option is the Hop On / Hop Off bus tours. Some packages even include a Boat Tour and access to the Giant Ferris Wheel a famous landmark in the Wiener Prater park. (Some people say that if you visit Vienna and don’t ride the Ferris wheel, you haven’t truly experienced Vienna.)

Finally, I recommend a dining at Wiener Stadtbräu, where you can try the traditional Schnitzel, a breaded veal cutlet served with green and potato salads.

Centrally located, with great service and affordable prices, the restaurant features rustic decor and occasionally live music.

For those who enjoy beer tasting, just an 8-minute walk from the restaurant is Stadtboden Original Wiener Bierkultur, a restaurant and bar where you can order a beer tasting flight of the house’s most popular craft beers. It’s a perfect way to wrap up a trip that will surely leave you with lasting memories.
